Creating a Ladder

A ladder is a list of bonds that you can show your client that presents a detailed breakdown of income from your selections. Graphics are used in a ladder to illustrate maturity and cash flows. This list also includes a table of composite portfolio statistics.

To create a ladder:

1. Search for the bonds you want to include in the ladder.
2. Click the down arrow on (on the Search Results page) or (on the Bond Offering Detail tab) to display the drop down menu. Click the Ladder List option The Add to Ladder List dialog box is displayed. View an example?

    

   

3. Select a list for the bonds. More...

   • To create a new ladder list, select the New Ladder List radio button. A default list name is displayed. Modify the list name as appropriate.

   • To add the bonds to the last saved list, which is displayed in parentheses next to the Current List radio button, select the Current List radio button.

   • To add the bonds to an existing ladder list, select the Saved Ladder List radio button. Select the ladder from the now-enabled drop-down list.

4. Add the bonds to the selected list. More...

   • To add your currently selected bonds to the list and continue selecting bonds, click Add & Continue. The Add to Ladder List dialog box is closed. Repeat the previous steps to include additional bonds in your list.

   • To add your current selections to the list and then view the list, click Add & Go to View List. The View List page is returned. The Ladder List tab is selected and the View Ladder Statistics panel is displayed. Continue to step 5.

5. Review the View Ladder Statistics panel. More...

   This panel contains a set of tabs that enables you to view different statistics, exposures, and cash flows based on the offerings currently included in the ladder. Click the tabs to view the different tables and graphs.

   • When viewing the Annual Cash Flows and Monthly Cash Flows tabs, use the icons in the right corner of the tab to alternate the view from a chart to a table.

   • When viewing the Monthly Cash Flows tab, use the View drop-down list to alternate the cash flows.

   • Use the Collapse and Expand icons ( , ) to close and re-display the View Ladder Statistics panel as needed.

6. Use any of the features available in the View List page.
